Ellen Esteves

Oi, my name is Ellen Esteves, and I am a graduate student at Western Washington University (WWU), pursuing a Masters of Education in School Counseling. Originally from Brazil, my journey started as an immigrant, first generation, multilingual learner (MLL). Which inspired my passion for helping immigrants and refugees, Latine population, MLL students. With a bachelor’s degree in education communities and organizations (ECO) and psychology from the University of Washington (UW), I have dedicated my education and career to supporting students and families in overcoming challenges and assisting families and students to understand the educational system in this country. Currently, I am the school counselor at Sunnyland Elementary School, where I am gaining new knowledge and growing my skills, and learning new tools for my toolbox as I work to support a younger population. My goal is to help students build confidence, access resources, and succeed academically and emotionally.

Outside of work and studies, I enjoy exploring new places with my dog, Pearl. I also love hiking, camping, and dancing salsa, which help me stay active and connected.

Fun fact: I have a truck named Victor Frankenstein.
