Background
Latinos in Washington State face serious health challenges like high rates of obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Many struggle to get care due to lack of insurance, language barriers, digital literacy issues, remote locations, and fear of immigration enforcement—especially in mixed-status families. As of March 2025, fewer than 3% of undocumented residents were enrolled in Medicaid, most are Latinx.
To help close these gaps, the Latino Center for Health has launched Mi Salud—a mobile health program partnering with community groups and health centers across the state. Our team of bilingual, bicultural health professionals, staff, and students provides mobile clinics that offer health screenings, vaccines, and wellness support, along with referrals for follow-up care and dental exams.
Early screening data shows the need is urgent: in 2024, over half of those screened had diabetes or high blood pressure. Mi Salud brings care directly to underserved Latino communities—offering trusted, accessible services where people live and work.
