Victor Polanco Vargas

Originally from the Dominican Republic, he is a Fulbright Scholar and graduate student in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Washington. He earned his medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo. With more than five years of health research experience, his work focuses on chronic disease epidemiology, clinical and public health research, and advancing health equity, particularly among Latino and other underserved communities.

His research interests also include global health, with a strong commitment to international collaboration to address health disparities and strengthen public health systems in the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean. He has demonstrated leadership in public health through contributions to multi-country research initiatives, support for capacity-building efforts, and mentorship of junior researchers in epidemiologic methods. He is deeply committed to leveraging scientific evidence to improve population health and inform policies that promote equity across diverse populations.
