Mission

The Latino Center for Health provides leadership for community-engaged population health research through capacity building and authentic partnerships with community stakeholders to inform policy and practice, and promote sustained improvements in the health and well-being of Latino communities in Washington state and regionally.

STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

We prioritize timely, relevant, community-informed research responsive to current and emerging issues impacting the health and well-being of urban and rural Latino communities throughout life span and across generations.

Outcome 1: Provide community-informed and culturally responsive research to effectively improve the health and well-being of ALL Latinos in Washington state.

Outcome 2: Increase opportunities for community voices to inform the research priorities of LCH.

We bridge evidence to policymaking in Washington state to positively impact Latino health and well-being by translating research to inform policy and practice, and share findings through community partnerships and strategic engagement with policymakers and various communication sources.

Outcome 1: Convene diverse stakeholders, disseminate research findings and policy and practice recommendations to key policy- and decision-makers to positively impact Latino health and well-being in Washington state.

Outcome 2: Provide evidence (e.g., policy briefs/reports, testimony) to inform legislative and governmental entities, educational institutions regarding the state of Latino physical and mental health, including policy recommendations for eliminating existing disparities and gaps, and implementing best practices.

Outcome 3: Increase the visibility of Latinos to Washington state leadership and media sources and across Latino communities.

We build a sustainable and visionary organization to support Latino health for current and future generations.

Outcome 1: Foster an organization and organizational culture where LCH staff and leadership are connected, supported and understand their roles and responsibilities.

Outcome 2: Diversify funding to support Center activities and programs.

We foster the next generation of Latino leadership and support workforce development to further health and well-being of Latino communities.

Outcome 1: Develop appropriate and mutually beneficial partnerships within the University of Washington.
