I am a first-generation college student currently pursuing my Master of Occupational Therapy degree at Eastern Washington University, with an anticipated graduation date in May of 2026. I am the first in my family to pursue a career in healthcare, and it is a responsibility I hold close to my heart. I was raised in Quincy, Washington, a predominately Latino/Latinx community, which has shaped my values and desire to serve others. Through my upbringing I have learned the importance of representation and effective communication in both English and Spanish by witnessing the need for bilingual healthcare professionals. My professional and educational experiences have highlighted the impact of cultural and language barriers on participation, outcomes, and access to opportunities.  I look forward to helping bridge this gap to provide equal and equitable healthcare to underserved communities in my role as a clinician.

I am grateful and humbled to be a part of this year’s fellowship cohort and to join a community of accomplished and aspiring Latino healthcare professionals
