Jesus Mendoza

I am Jesus Mendoza, a first-year medical student originally from Tieton, WA (just north of Yakima) and currently studying at Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine in Spokane, WA. I earned my undergraduate degree in Biology, Pre-Med at Washington State University Pullman in 2020, following my studies at Yakima Valley College. As a first-generation Mexican American from an agricultural and migrant farmworker community, my upbringing has profoundly shaped my commitment to advancing equitable healthcare. I am particularly passionate about increasing access to bilingual and culturally competent care for underserved populations. Having overcome linguistic, financial, and cultural barriers as the first in my family to pursue higher education, I am dedicated to addressing these challenges for others.

My goal is to contribute to a healthcare workforce that reflects the diverse patient population in Washington State, ensuring that minorities receive the support and representation they deserve. I look forward to collaborating with like-minded individuals to give back to the communities that have supported our journeys and to pave the way for future generations in education and healthcare.

Lastly, I have a 5-year-old Siberian husky who has accompanied me throughout my relocation to 4 states since graduating college (he prefers the winter season in Washington).
