My name is Malik Williams, and I’m currently in my first year of pharmacy school at the University of Washington. Before coming to UW, I attended Santa Clara University where I majored in Psychology and Spanish. I’m originally from Portland, Oregon, and am bilingual, which has opened up many opportunities for me, both professionally and personally.
Alongside my studies, I work as a pharmacy intern at UW Northwest Hospital, where I’m gaining hands-on experience in the field. I’m also involved in a grant with the State of Washington focused on youth development, which allows me to give back to my community in a meaningful way. One of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had so far is traveling abroad twice for service trips, once to Peru and once to Mexico. These experiences gave me a deeper appreciation for global health and community-driven projects, and they inspired my commitment to making a difference in underserved populations.
In my free time, I enjoy staying active through boxing and working out, exploring new foods (I’m definitely a foodie), and spending quality time with friends and family. I also love to travel and, when I have the chance, unwind by watching anime.
My ultimate career goal is to become an industry pharmacist. I want to focus on approving new pharmaceuticals and increasing access to affordable medications, particularly for underrepresented communities. I’m excited about the path ahead and the opportunity to make a real impact in healthcare.
